The CBR600RR has a rich racing history, with its last legacy being the de facto Moto2 engine until 2018. It returned to Europe and the UK in 2024, and Honda has just given it some noteworthy upgrades. We’d like to emphasise noteworthy because some of those are straight out of the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, the Japanese manufacturer’s flagship of the segment. The upgrades are limited to the aerodynamics, brakes and TFT display.
- Along with the brakes, the new ABS from Fireblade adds three ABS modes
- Continues to have a 599cc inline-four engine with 121hp and 63Nm
- Gets two new colours: Matte Ballistic Black and Ignition Red
2027 Honda CBR600RR: What has changed?
Middleweight supersport gets closer to the big brother
The outgoing model has winglets on either side, which have now been moved forward to be integrated to the front fairing. Despite their understated look compared to before, Honda claims neither a loss of downforce nor an increase in drag. Up next are the brakes, specifically the front ones. They continue to be radially mounted, but new for 2027 are the Nissin four-piston calipers – taken from the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade – clamping down the 310mm dual front discs and a rear, single-piston caliper and a 220mm disc. The ABS module, also derived from the Fireblade, has been updated to match the change and adds three ABS modes (Standard, Track and Race) to the CBR600RR.
Moving on to the electronics side, the TFT display has become larger, going from a 4.2-inch unit to an updated 5-inch one. The comprehensive suite of rider aids such as ride-by-wire, a six-axis IMU, a bi-directional quickshifter, cornering ABS, nine levels of traction control, five ride modes (two user configurable) and wheelie control all continue to be on offer. You can also control power and engine braking, as well as adjust the quickshifter system for a thoroughly custom setup. For riders looking for even more customisability, Honda offers three race kits and two accessory packs: Racing and Comfort.
Beyond these updates, the supersport remains where it was earlier. It has the 599cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine, developing 121hp at 14,250rpm and 63Nm at 11,500rpm. Also unchanged are its 194kg kerb weight, 820mm seat height, the aluminium twin-spar frame, a fully adjustable 41mm Showa USD fork with 120mm travel and a Pro-link monoshock with 128mm travel, and 125mm ground clearance. The 2027 CBR600RR will be offered in two colours: Matte Ballistic Black and Ignition Red in Honda’s signature HRC Tricolour, both retailing for GBP 10,999 (Rs 13.91 lakh, unchanged from the outgoing model). Honda says the bikes will be available in Europe and the UK from January 2027.
GBP-to-INR conversions are based on exchange rates at the time of writing.
