Bajaj has launched the Pulsar N250SS, expanding the N250 line-up with a range-topping variant that brings notable updates to the powertrain and technology over the standard bike. The improvements follow the same SS treatment Bajaj gave the N160 earlier this year.
- New four-valve engine produces 25hp and 22Nm
- 6-speed gearbox replaces the 5-speed unit
- Gets a 5-inch TFT console with Google Maps mirroring
Engine, gearbox and electronics all get notable updates
For starters, the N250SS uses an updated version of the 249cc air- and oil-cooled engine, now with a four-valve head producing 25hp and 22Nm – marginal gains over the 24.5hp and 21.5Nm produced by the base N250. The 5-speed gearbox is replaced by a 6-speed unit, and a quickshifter for clutchless upshifts has been added as standard equipment. Lastly, the SS variant features an electronic throttle body that unlocks riding modes.
In terms of tech, there’s a new 5-inch TFT console that replaces the LCD unit and adds Google Maps mirroring, bringing the N250SS in line with the feature set Bajaj introduced on the N160SS. Adjustable levers, a USB Type-C port, panic brake alert and a hazard switch round out the additions.
The Pulsar N250SS is priced at Rs 1.59 lakh, making it Rs 14,000 more expensive than the standard N250. That said, at this price, it undercuts most of its chief rivals, such as the Suzuki Gixxer 250 (Rs 1.85 lakh) and the recently introduced Hero Xtreme 250R Carbon (Rs 1.98 lakh), by a fair margin.
All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
