BMW Motorrad recently unveiled the F 450 RR globally. The 420cc, twin-cylinder sportbike will be offered in three colour options – Cosmic Black, Racing Red, and Snaefell White / M Motorsport. The paint schemes are spread across its four variants, with the signature M Motorsport finish reserved for the top-spec models.

The Cosmic Black is the standard colour offered on the base variant. It gets an understated, stealthy all-black finish, while the Racing Red paint scheme lends the motorcycle a bolder appearance and is available on the mid-tier Sport variant.
The range-topping Snaefell White / M Motorsport is inspired by the flagship BMW S 1000 RR. It features white bodywork with M Motorsport graphics, a white frame, and M Motorsport-coloured rim stickers. This colour scheme is offered on the M Sport and M Sport with Innovation Package variants.

Powering the BMW F 450 RR is a 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 48bhp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm of torque at 6,750rpm. The engine features a 135-degree crankshaft that lends it a unique character and sound. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox, while the motorcycle has a claimed kerb weight of 177kg.
The F 450 RR gets a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, LED lighting, switchable dual-channel ABS, traction control, and a USB-C charging port. It also gets heated grips as standard.

The higher M Sport variants also get IMU-based safety features such as cornering ABS, dynamic brake control, cornering traction control, and engine drag torque control. The motorcycle gets three ride modes – Rain, Road, and Race – as standard, while the M Sport variants further get Riding Modes Pro, including a configurable Race Pro mode. The top-spec M Sport with Innovation Package additionally gets the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC). The M Sport variants also feature additional TFT display screens with additional riding data such as lean angle, braking force, and a lap timer.

The bike uses a tubular steel chassis, suspended on KYB upside-down front forks, and a KYB monoshock at the rear. Barring the base variant, all other trims get the Sport suspension package that adds rebound and compression damping adjustment at the front and rebound and preload damping adjustment at the rear. The Sport and M Sport variants also get Shift Assistant Pro (quickshifter) for clutchless upshifts and downshifts, along with a sportier suspension tuning.

BMW is yet to announce the launch date or pricing details of the F 450 RR in India. Once launched, it will rival the Aprilia RS 457 and the Kawasaki Ninja 500. We expect it to be priced between Rs. 4.50 and Rs. 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variants.
