Honda recorded domestic sales of 4,465 units in September, while exports stood at 2,490 units. Despite the monthly decline, July–September domestic sales remained 20.15% ahead of last year.
Honda Cars India reported total sales of 6,955 units in September 2026, including domestic sales and exports. This represented a 14.09% decline compared with 8,096 units in September last year, with both parts of the business recording lower volumes.
Domestic Sales Fall Below 4,500 Units
Honda’s domestic sales stood at 4,465 units, down 15.80% from 5,303 units in September 2025. Compared with August 2026, when the company sold 5,385 units, volumes declined 17.08%. The domestic market accounted for around 64% of Honda’s total September sales. Its decline contributed most of the reduction in overall volumes, although exports also weakened during the month.
Exports Also Decline
Honda exported 2,490 units in September, down 10.85% from 2,793 units a year earlier. Overseas sales contributed approximately 36% of the company’s monthly total. The reduction in exports added to the pressure from lower domestic volumes. However, September’s export decline was less pronounced than the contraction recorded across the full July–September quarter.
Quarterly Domestic Sales Grow 20.15%
The broader quarterly picture was more positive for Honda’s domestic business. During July–September 2026, corresponding to calendar-year Q3, domestic sales reached 15,864 units, registering 20.15% growth over the same period last year.
Exports moved in the opposite direction, falling 25.11% to 6,883 units. This offset much of the domestic improvement, leaving combined quarterly sales at 22,747 units, up 1.58% YoY.
The figures show a contrast between September’s weaker performance and the quarter as a whole. Domestic growth was sufficient to keep overall quarterly volumes marginally positive, despite a substantial reduction in overseas sales.
Updated Elevate, New EV To Support Next Phase
Commenting on the results, Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India, said the company had seen positive sales momentum for the City and Amaze during September. He also highlighted preparations for the new Elevate, describing it as a refreshed and enhanced SUV offering.
Recent teasers have previewed revised exterior lighting and cabin updates for the Elevate. The October 6 launch will provide the next major product development for Honda as the festive season progresses. Later this year, Honda is also expected to launch their 0 Alpha electric SUV, which was recently spied near their Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
