  • Road-centric bike with scrambler styling
  • Likely to be exclusive to the Chinese market

Honda has unveiled a scrambler concept at the CIMA motorcycle trade show in Chongqing, China. Christened the CB250SS, it looks smashing, but availability may be limited to China, at least for the near future.

The CB250SS looks like a quintessential neo-retro scrambler but the evident cycle parts suggest it is purely focused on road riding. Giving it the scrambler visual appeal are elements like a round headlamp covered with a cage, a tiny body-coloured fly screen, tall handlebar, a curvy fuel tank, chopped fenders, and a stubby tail with a ribbed-pattern seat. Accentuating its visual appeal are golden USD forks and twin exhaust pipes.

The ability of the bike to go off-road seems very limited, courtesy of 17-inch alloy wheels, modest visible suspension travel, and road-biased tyres. On the feature front, it gets a round TFT display with second-generation Honda RoadSync connectivity. What we know about the engine so far is that it boasts a displacement of 249cc with liquid cooling and an assist and slipper clutch. Honda says it is tuned to deliver strong low-end torque and linear power delivery, but that’s all we know for now.

The chances of the Honda CB250SS coming to India are quite slim for now. However, it will be a strong and unique proposition in the quarter-litre segment, which doesn’t have a scrambler-styled offering as of now.
