2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift

Baleno led September 2026 car sales with 25,392 units, while Maruti Suzuki secured six positions in the top 10

India’s top 10 selling cars together registered sales of 1,91,332 units in September 2026, up 15.45% from 1,65,725 units recorded by these same models in September 2025. This translates to a volume increase of 25,607 units. Compared to August 2026, combined sales rose 4.53%, adding 8,295 units over 1,83,037 units.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno topped the chart, followed by Tata Nexon and Punch, both of which crossed 20,000 units. Maruti accounted for six entries, followed by Tata with two, while Hyundai and Mahindra had one each. Figures for Nexon, Punch and Creta include their respective electric versions, while Scorpio combines Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N.

Recently launched facelifted Baleno registered 25,392 units, nearly doubling its September 2025 tally of 13,173 units. Growth stood at 92.76%, with an additional 12,219 units—the largest volume gain and highest percentage growth among these ten models. Baleno alone accounted for 13.27% of their combined September sales.

Tata Nexon ranked second with 20,456 units, down 9.38% from 22,573 units a year earlier. Punch followed closely with 20,333 units, growing 27.95% over 15,891 units. Just 123 units separated the two Tata models. Maruti Fronx secured fourth position with 19,282 units, registering 40.06% growth over 13,767 units. WagonR completed the top five with 18,835 units, up 22.40% from 15,388 units.

Top 10 Cars Sep 2026 – MoM

Dzire finished sixth with 17,754 units, down 11.40%, marking the sharpest YoY percentage decline among these models. Hyundai Creta followed with 17,657 units, a decline of 6.38%. Swift recorded 17,399 units, growing 11.91%, while Mahindra Scorpio sales stood at 17,313 units, down 5.76%. Ertiga rounded off the list with 16,911 units, posting a strong 39.59% increase over September 2025.

Month-on-Month Sales – Baleno Leads Growth

Compared to August 2026, five models registered growth and five recorded declines. Baleno again led by a considerable margin, gaining 9,646 units for 61.26% growth. Its increase exceeded the overall net gain of 8,295 units across these ten models, offsetting declines elsewhere.

Nexon grew 10.99% from 18,431 units, while Punch declined 4.63% from 21,320 units. Fronx posted a modest 2.95% increase, whereas WagonR and Dzire fell 6.67% and 3.61%, respectively. Creta improved 8.40% over August, while Scorpio registered 11.15% growth. Swift saw the largest monthly decline at 12.27%, losing 2,433 units, followed by Ertiga with an 8.67% drop.

Across both comparisons, new Baleno emerged as the standout performer. Fronx was the only other model in this list to register growth both year-on-year and month-on-month.
