Based on the Z900, Kawasaki Versys 900 will be slotted between the Versys 650 and Versys 1100 in the Indian market

Kawasaki Versys 900 has been teased yet again by the Japanese brand ahead of its official debut on October 13, 2026. However, the new teaser gives us a glimpse of the ADV tourer unlike the previous teaser images. The Versys 900 is also likely to launch in India in 2027 while slotted between the Versys 650 and Versys 1100, which are priced at Rs 8.63 lakh and Rs 13.89 lakh, respectively. Based on the naked Z900 bike, it is expected to come at a price point of around Rs 11 lakh in the Indian market while going against the likes of Triumph Tiger 900 and BMW F 900 GS.

Going by the teaser images, Kawasaki Versys appears to be offering similar riding position and ergonomics as the Versys 650 and Versys 1100. We can see a massive windscreen, twin LED headlamp setup and 17-inch alloy wheels. In particular, the dual-LED headlamps are borrowed from the Z900. There are additional LED projector lamps beneath the headlamp.

Kawasaki has reworked on the Z900’s frame to accommodate the bigger seating area and luggage-carrying accessories as visible in the teaser. We can spot the panniers and top box rack mounted on the tail section. Needless to mention, the Versys 900 will be heavier in weight as compared to Z900 which tips the scale at 212 kg. For reference, Versys 650 and Versys 1100 have kerb weights of 220 kg and 257 kg, respectively.

Kawasaki Versys is also expected to get a huge fuel tank which can swallow at least 20 litres of fuel. The adventure tourer will boast of radial front brake calipers while the suspension travel will also be longer than the Z900. It could also be equipped with a remote preload adjuster which comes quite handy while making adjustments to the pre-load while riding with a pillion, luggage or both.

Some of the notable bells and whistles likely to be onboard the Versys 900 are riding modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS, bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control and power modes. It could also flaunt Kawasaki’s latest 5-inch instrument cluster with TFT display and Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity. The switchgear will be sourced from the Z900.

At the heart, Kawasaki Versys 900 will have the 948cc four-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine with E20 fuel compatibility. We have already seen this engine with the Z900 where it makes top power of 123.6 bhp at 9,500 rpm and peak torque of 98.6 Nm at 7,700 rpm. We can expect similar power and torque figures with the Versys 900 while linked to a 6-speed gearbox.
