BMW M 1000 R “100 Jahre Nürburgring” Edition has been unveiled for India as part of BMW’s celebration of the legendary German racetrack’s upcoming centenary. The special motorcycle joins a limited collection of BMW M cars created around the same theme, with pre-orders now open through authorised BMW Motorrad dealerships in India. Pricing has not been announced yet.

The M 1000 R is the only motorcycle included in this anniversary line-up for India. BMW has given it enough unique detailing to separate it clearly from the standard model. The fuel tank carries a painted silhouette of the Nürburgring and the airbox cover gets a dedicated anniversary design. Each motorcycle also carries an individual “one of 100” marking.

Only limited units will come to India, although we don’t know the exact allocation for our market. Considering the individual numbering and the wider collector focus of the edition, availability is likely to remain extremely tight.
The visual changes continue with carbon wheels finished with Nürburgring Green accent stripes. The seat gets an Alcantara-style finish with an embroidered “100” logo, while black components around the rear swingarm and rear frame give the motorcycle a darker overall appearance. These changes are restrained compared with some heavily decorated anniversary models, and that arguably suits the M 1000 R better.

If you do not know what the Green Hell is, the Nürburgring opened in 1927 and its Nordschleife section runs for 20.8km combining more than 150 corners with major elevation changes. BMW continues to use the circuit extensively for performance vehicle development, particularly for steering, chassis balance, braking and high-speed stability. The company also points to its 21 overall victories in the Nürburgring 24 Hours as part of that relationship.
