Electric two-wheeler sales crossed 2.07 lakh units in September, with TVS and Bajaj together accounting for nearly half of total volumes
Following our reports on electric car sales and overall two-wheeler sales for September 2026, we now turn our attention to the electric two-wheeler segment, which has recorded sales of 2,07,314 units. This represents 88.67% YoY increase. Sales also grew 13.16% MoM, compared to 1,83,204 units sold in August 2026.
The electric two-wheeler market share currently stands at 11.6%, up from 10.7% in August 2026 and significantly higher than the 8.2% share recorded in September 2025. The steady increase highlights growing consumer acceptance of electric two-wheelers, supported by their lower running costs and other advantages over conventional petrol-powered models.
Electric Two Wheeler Sales Sept 2026
TVS Motor emerged as the market leader in September 2026 with 54,037 units sold, as strong demand for the iQube and Orbiter continued to drive its performance. Sales increased 125.87% YoY, compared to 23,924 units in September 2025, while MoM sales grew 10.42% from 48,938 units in August 2026.
Bajaj Auto followed closely with 48,429 units of its Chetak electric scooter sold during the month. The company recorded an impressive 138.87% YoY growth, compared to 20,274 units in September 2025, while MoM sales increased 17.79% from 41,114 units in August 2026. Together, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto accounted for 49.43% of the electric two-wheeler market, with combined sales of nearly one lakh units.
Ather Energy and Hero MotoCorp also continued to strengthen their positions in the electric two-wheeler market. Ather recorded sales of 30,533 units, representing 55.62% YoY growth over 19,620 units in September 2025. MoM sales increased 6.18% from 28,757 units in August 2026.
Hero MotoCorp registered 24,321 units, with sales rising 83.34% YoY and 97.96% MoM. Together, the top four manufacturers — TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy and Hero MotoCorp — accounted for 74.89% of total electric two-wheeler sales in September 2026.
Ola Electric recorded 13,451 units during the month. Its sales declined 2.96% YoY and 2.89% MoM, indicating a relatively weaker performance compared to the leading players in the segment. Greaves Mobility registered 9,316 units, marking a strong 114.06% YoY increase over 4,352 units sold in September 2025. MoM sales also increased 8.16%, compared to 8,613 units in August 2026.
River, BGauss, Bounce, E-Sprinto
River Mobility contributed 5,556 units to total electric two-wheeler sales, registering an impressive 193.19% YoY growth over 1,895 units sold in September 2025. MoM sales also increased 8.07%. BGauss nearly doubled its sales to 5,023 units, recording a 99.01% YoY increase over 2,524 units in September 2025. The company also registered a 3.67% MoM increase, compared to 4,845 units sold in August 2026.
Triple-digit growth was also reported by Bounce Electric, which sold 3,069 units during the month. Sales surged 242.91% YoY and increased 192.56% MoM, highlighting strong growth from a relatively smaller base. E-Sprinto Green also reported healthy retail sales, with 1,997 units sold in September 2026. This represents a 108.67% YoY increase over 957 units sold in September 2025. MoM sales surged 1,564.17%, compared to just 120 units in August 2026.
Other electric two-wheeler manufacturers collectively contributed 11,582 units to total retail sales in September 2026. This represented a 39.44% YoY increase, although sales declined 1.58% MoM compared to August 2026.
