Fiat Multipla has spawned a thousand predictable playground jokes owing to its quirky design and weird aesthetics. But the spirit of Multipla did not die and Geely debuted the Eva Cab Robotaxi in April 2026, which reminded us of the Fiat Multipla. Now, Fiat themselves have dived into the Multipla spirit in 2026 with a new concept.
Called Fiat Multiplay, this new concept vehicle embodies the spirit of Multipla in multiple ways including the name. The concept was just showcased in Paris, featuring a family-friendly cabin along with some quirkiness of original Multipla as Multiplay combines the form factors of an SUV, an MPV and a pickup truck.
Fiat Multiplay Concept Debuts
If you remember Fiat Concept Pick-Up from 2024, the just debuted Fiat Multiplay Concept looks like an extension of that. However, Multiplay Concept is visually different. The thought process behind the Fiat Multiplay Concept is to combine space efficiency of an MPV, versatility of a pickup truck and character of an SUV.
This way, Fiat wants to fuse three different use cases into one family-friendly vehicle that is juggling between work, school, sport and even outdoor activities. Multiplay Concept has a short bonnet, large glass area, split suicide doors, LED pixel-like signature with FIAT illuminated logo, C-shaped LEDs in bumper along with MULTIPLAY branding.
Side turn indicators are in Pixel shape too, found on wheel arch claddings. We have an interesting alloy wheel design with a geometric + design and a FIAT logo in the hub. At the rear, Pixel design LED tail light signature, off-set illuminated FIAT logo, a chunky rear bumper and a split tailgate can be seen. At the front, we can see LED flood lights on either ends.
Moving Roof Transforms Between MPV & Pickup
The roof element at the rear moves, which transforms this MPV into a pickup truck. When roof is retracted, there is a large loading area like in a pickup truck and a folding tonneau cover tidy up things further. When roof is deployed, third-row seats rise back on their own, making it an MPV with 2+2+3 (6+1) seating layout. If you think that’s now enough, Multiplay’s spoiler rotates, revealing integrated bike mounts.
One would expect 2+3+2 seating layout from a family MPV or even a 2+2+3 seating layout with 2nd row captain chairs. However, Fiat is calling the 2nd row right-side seat as “Petsenger” seat and is not really for humans as it does not have a seat back, making it a 6+1 package. In Pickup truck mode, 3rd row seats get attached to 2nd row, making it a 4-seater.
Fiat Multiplay Concept measures 4.5m in length, making it significantly larger than the 4m to 4.1m long Multipla. “Petsenger” seat is marked Green in the otherwise Orange cabin. There’s an oval steering yoke, a wide display that combines infotainment, instrumentation and co-driver’s screen, a flat dashboard with Green highlights, and fully reclining co-driver seat. A production-spec version of Fiat Multiplay is not confirmed yet.
