Jeep Compass has been the American brand’s most accessible model in India for a long time. Variant lineup started from the base Sport trim, followed by Longitude (O2), Trail Edition, Limited (O), Model S (O2) and Track Edition. In this lineup, Compass Sport MT becomes the absolute base variant, priced at Rs 18.29 lakh (Ex-sh).
Now, Stellantis India has just launched Jeep Compass Sport AT for a price tag of Rs 21.99 lakh, making it the most affordable automatic gearbox variant of Compass in India. However, the price delta between Compass Sport MT and Compass Sport AT is Rs 3.7 lakh (Ex-sh).
Jeep Compass Sport AT Variant
With the launch of Compass Sport Automatic variant, Jeep India is offering the most affordable Diesel Automatic variant of Compass in India. This comes ahead of the auspicious Diwali festival when buyers are in the festive spirit. Offering an affordable Diesel Automatic gearbox variant might work in Compass’ favour to rack up sales.
Along with the Jeep Compass base Sport Automatic variant, the company is also offering an optional accessory pack, which is priced at Rs 29,900. Opting for this optional accessory pack gets a dashcam for security, ambient lighting to jazz up the cabin, all-weather floor mats, mud flaps and special Swoosh decal.
Even though Sport is the base trim, it gets decent equipment to match the premium price tag. For starters, it gets 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered ORVMs, cruise control, auto hold, steering mounted controls, Dynamic Torque Steer, Frequency Selective Dampers and many other features.
Mechanically, there is nothing new with Compass Sport AT variant. It continues to get the same 2.0L Turbo Diesel engine as before, rated at 170 bhp of peak power and 350 Nm of peak torque and the gearbox is a 9-speed unit. It is only 2WD and only front wheels are driven. AWD equipment is offered with higher variants.
