Honda has just unveiled a new 250cc Scrambler bike at CIMA Motorcycle Trade Show in Chongqing, China. This is a neo-retro motorcycle with a Scrambler theme and it packs blocky dual-sport tyres along with ribbed-style seat finished in Brown colour.
Called Honda CB250SS Scrambler Concept, it is currently in the concept stage and a production-spec version is yet to be announced. Even if the CB250SS Scrambler Concept spawns a production-spec version, there is not enough clarity whether it will be just limited to Chinese market or emerge as a global market.
Honda CB250SS Scrambler Unveiled
At the CIMA Motorcycle Trade Show in Chongqing, China, Honda showcased a new Scrambler-style concept motorcycle called the CB250SS Scrambler Concept. It comes with pleasing aesthetics with its neo-retro design language and scrambler theme which work well together.
Overall proportions of this motorcycle concept suggests that it could be a compact and design-first motorcycle with Scrambler theme elements that give it a rugged look. We can see a circular headlight setup which resembles that of Honda’s Rebel series with quad LED projector units inside. There is a headlight guard up front, for rugged aesthetics.
Teardrop-shape fuel tank with knee recess has Red striping with CB250SS branding, while the rest of it is finished in White. There is a small fly screen at the front with White in the middle, Red in borders and a splash of Red for contrast. We can see Red and White playfully used in front and rear mudguards.
Radiator guard gets a White protective grille with CB branding and we can also see a sturdy-looking bash plate. Gearbox casing and the front USD forks are finished in a lovely Gold shade that ups the premium quotient. Side body panels are finished in Black which gets SS branding. There is a Brown ribbed seat with Honda branding.
Off-Road Capability?
We can see up-swept exhaust with a double barrel end can. Along with that, Honda CB250SS packs block-pattern dual-purpose tyres too. However, these don’t translate into genuine off-road ability as wheels look like they are 17-inchers and the suspension does not look like they have a lot of travel.
There is a circular TFT cluster with Honda RoadSync Gen 2 with a host of connected features along with navigation. A 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine powers Honda CB250SS, which could be shared with Japanese-spec Rebel 250 which churns out 26 bhp and 22 Nm. It belongs to the same family which spawns a 286cc engine which powered CB300R and Rebel 300.
