The Type 01 retains much of the concept’s distinctive appearance, although the production version gains four doors. Its long bonnet, low roofline, upright nose and substantial rear shoulders create proportions unlike Jaguar’s previous sedans and sports cars.
Measuring more than 5.2 metres in length, with a wheelbase of around 3.2 metres, the Type 01 has a considerable footprint. Large 23-inch wheels further emphasise its stance, while flush door handles and clean body surfaces contribute to aerodynamic efficiency.
The front features slim lighting units and Jaguar’s new grille-like ‘strikethrough’ design. This treatment continues at the rear, where the tail lamps are concealed within the horizontal detailing when switched off.
One of the most unconventional features is the absence of a rear windscreen. Instead, a rear-facing camera supplies a digital display inside the cabin. Active cooling vanes and a three-stage deployable rear spoiler help the Type 01 achieve a claimed drag coefficient of 0.23.
Three Motors, 1,365 Nm Torque
The Type 01 uses three electric motors, with one at the front and two at the rear. Combined output stands at 1,016 bhp and 1,365 Nm, making it Jaguar’s most powerful road-going production car.
Jaguar claims a 0–100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds. The company also highlights its ability to accelerate from 100–180 km/h in four seconds, underlining the sustained performance expected from a grand tourer.
The chassis combines double-wishbone front suspension with an integral-link rear arrangement. Air suspension, active dampers and torque vectoring support both comfort and handling, while rear-wheel steering helps reduce the turning circle to around 11.5 metres.
Five driving modes are available: Jaguar, Dynamic, Efficient, Ice & Snow and Curated. Dynamic mode increases the rearward power bias and sharpens the steering, accelerator response and suspension settings.
118 kWh Battery, Up To 720 Km Range
Power comes from a battery with 118 kWh of usable capacity. Jaguar claims a WLTP range of up to 720 km, giving the Type 01 the long-distance capability central to its GT positioning. The battery uses a split-module arrangement, helping accommodate the low body profile while creating additional foot space for rear passengers.
The 850V electrical architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. Under suitable conditions, a 10–80% charge takes around 22 minutes, while approximately 321 km of range can be added in 13 minutes.
Four-Seat Cabin With 24-Inch OLED Display
Inside, a prominent central spine divides the cabin into four seating areas. The minimalist dashboard features a 24-inch OLED display, accompanied by a seven-inch vertical touchscreen for functions such as climate control and media. Boot capacity is around 450 litres, with the rear seats folding to increase luggage space.
The camera-based ClearSight rear-view display sits at the base of the windscreen rather than in the conventional mirror position. Other highlights include a fixed panoramic glass roof, a panoramic soundbar and heated and ventilated seats for all four occupants.
India Launch Expected In 2027
Order books are expected to open in early 2027, with initial deliveries planned for the second half of the year. An India introduction is also expected during 2027. The Type 01 represents more than a replacement for an existing Jaguar. Its design, electric architecture and move further upmarket establish the direction for the brand’s next generation of vehicles.
