Honda has started testing the upcoming 2027 CBR1000RR-R abroad, at the Jerez Circuit in Spain. It was ridden by Jonathan Rea, and images of the motorcycle were shared on his social media profile. The bike being tested right after the last round of the 2026 WorldSBK signals that the brand has some big plans for the 2027 WorldSBK.

The bike has seen some changes, with the aeros being revised. At the front, the winglets have been enlarged for better downforce. In addition to this, the brand has also added ground effect pods, likely inspired by the Ducati Panigale V4. These pods should improve the bike’s cornering speed, thus helping to improve lap times.

Another interesting change is that the test mule was spotted with a differently shaped ram air intake compared to the current WorldSBK CBR1000RR-R. The reworked ram-air intake could have resulted in an improvement in performance. For reference, the current CBR1000RR-R is powered by a 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine that produces 217.5bhp at 14,000rpm and 113Nm at 12,000rpm.

With the changes in regulations, we can expect the bike’s chassis to have received some tweaks. However, it is not clearly visible just going by the images shared online.

Lastly, the brakes have been changed, with the test mule sporting Brembo callipers instead of the Nissin callipers. The change is likely due to Brembo being the new exclusive supplier of braking hardware for 2027 WorldSBK.
