- Redesigned bodywork and a sharper new LED face
- Makes 14.5bhp and 11.5Nm
Yamaha MT-125 has received a significant visual refresh for 2027 for global markets bringing the smallest member of the MT family closer to the latest MT-07 and MT-09 in appearance. The mechanical package remains the same, but redesigned bodywork, a sharper front end and a new colour option give the 125cc hyper naked a noticeably fresher identity. For India, though, the motorcycle is unlikely to make much commercial sense because Yamaha already sells the larger and more powerful MT-15 V2 in almost exactly the same role. But styling cues might just make it here.

Yamaha has given the MT-125 a leaner and slightly longer-looking profile backed by a redesigned seat and a newly sculpted fuel tank. The side panels have also changed and now use textured surfaces with a transparent smoked treatment and visible MT branding. Yamaha says the revised tank shape has been designed to work better whether the rider is sitting upright in traffic or moving forward during more spirited riding.
It gets a sharper face incorporating blade-style LED position lights and revised indicators. A smoked transparent front mask with a frosted MT-125 logo completes the new appearance. There is also a new Redline White colour scheme with contrasting graphics and a two-tone seat. It joins Ice Storm, Icon Blue and Tech Black.

MT-125 uses a 125cc liquid-cooled four-valve single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation. It produces 14.5bhp at 10,000rpm and 11.5Nm at 8,000rpm VVA remains an important part of the engine because it uses two intake cam profiles to maintain useful response lower down while allowing the engine to breathe more freely at higher revs. It is essentially the same philosophy Yamaha uses with its Indian-market 155cc VVA engine.
MT-125 retains a Deltabox-style frame and aluminium swingarm. The front suspension uses 41mm upside-down forks with 130mm of travel. An assist and slipper clutch is also standard. Traction control is standard as well, making this a fairly sophisticated package considering the engine capacity.

The five-inch colour TFT offers three selectable display themes and connects to a smartphone through Yamaha’s MyRide application. Riders can access turn-by-turn navigation along with call, message and music information through the display.
There are some areas where the European MT-125 specification is actually more premium than our MT-15. Its 41mm USD fork is larger than the 37mm unit used on the MT-15, while its 292mm front disc is also bigger than the Indian bike’s 282mm unit. The radial-mounted front caliper is another difference.
