  • 156.9cc liquid-cooled engine 15bhp
  • Honda has already committed the closely related ADV160 engine class to India

The cool Honda Stylo 160 has received fresh colours for 2026 in Indonesia, and we think we’re genuinely missing out. This update itself is fairly simple, but it reminded us how the Stylo fits our market now. In fact this is exactly the sort of lifestyle scooter Honda’s Indian line-up is currently missing.

Stylo was designed around appearance from the beginning. Its bodywork combines a rounded LED headlamp, flowing front apron, compact tail and relatively clean side panels with 12-inch wheels.

Activa is bought largely for practicality and familiarity. Dio brings more youthful styling but remains a mainstream commuter. ADV160 goes in the opposite direction, using adventure-bike-inspired bodywork, a windscreen and a more rugged stance. Stylo 160 would sit neatly between all of them as the design-led choice.

Honda Right Front Three Quarter

And that is why the Stylo suddenly looks much more relevant to India than it did when it originally debuted in Indonesia. It would have more performance than Honda’s current 110cc and 125cc Indian scooters while still retaining the step-through practicality people buy scooters for. Stylo actually manages to look substantial without turning into a maxi-scooter.

Its two new colours are Glam Grey and Royal Violet. The Special Burgundy ABS version remains the most distinctive of the lot. And honestly colour matters on this scooter more than it would on an Activa.

Honda’s global financial filings specifically identify the Stylo 160 as one of the models that helped increase unit sales in Indonesia in FY2025. And Indonesia is a useful reference point because buyers there, like in India, use scooters as everyday transport rather than purely recreational machines.

The bigger reason Honda should be looking seriously at the Stylo, though, is the ADV160. Honda has already has the ADV160 for India as part of its major 2026 product expansion. The Indian version is a City Adventure scooter using a 156.9cc liquid-cooled engine and it is being engineered to support flex-fuel blends up to E85. So Honda committing the ADV160 to India changes the commercial argument around the Stylo.

Honda Right Side View

If Honda already has a 156.9cc liquid-cooled scooter powertrain for Indian conditions, localisation, emissions rules, fuel requirements and servicing, adding another scooter around the similar family should be easier to justify.

There are some compromises though. The 16.5-litre boot is not especially large by modern scooter standards. That 5-litre fuel tank is modest as well. The smaller 12-inch wheels also mean Honda would need to get the suspension tune right for broken Indian urban roads.

But none of those points undermines the fundamental proposition because the Stylo is not pretending to be the practical champion of Honda’s range. Honda could arguably take the idea even further for India.

Different accessory packs, contrast seats, windscreens and colour-matched luggage could turn the Stylo into a genuine customisable lifestyle scooter. It would also give Honda something its current domestic scooter range lacks, a model somebody might buy primarily because they want it rather than because they need a scooter.
