Japan-spec eVitara receives an A rank for preventive safety and B rank for collision safety under the 2026 JNCAP assessment
Suzuki eVitara has received a four-star overall safety rating in Japan NCAP’s 2026 assessment. Earlier, ANCAP had also awarded eVitara 4 star rating. The electric SUV secured an A rank for preventive safety and a B rank for collision safety. Its automatic emergency accident reporting system was classified as Advanced Type II.
Suzuki eVitara Japan NCAP Results
The 4-star rating combines performance across accident-prevention systems, collision protection and automatic emergency accident reporting. In collision assessments, eVitara achieved Level 5 out of 5 for driver protection in the full-width frontal impact test. Rear-seat protection in the same test received Level 4, while the new offset frontal collision assessment also returned Level 4.
Side-impact protection received Level 5, as did rear-impact neck protection for both the driver and front passenger. Pedestrian protection results were mixed, with Level 3 for head protection and Level 5 for leg protection. Seatbelt reminders received Level 4.
Strong Results In Several Accident-Prevention Tests
eVitara achieved Level 5 in automatic emergency braking assessments involving pedestrians during daytime and at night, as well as cyclists. Lane-departure prevention, high-performance headlights and acceleration suppression during pedal misapplication also received Level 5.
More demanding intersection scenarios produced varied results. Emergency braking for an oncoming vehicle during a right turn received Level 4, as did pedestrian detection during right or left turns.
The motorcycle-related right-turn scenario returned Level 3, while emergency braking for crossing vehicles at an intersection received Level 2. These were among the lower-rated areas in the published breakdown, although the available information does not establish precisely how many points separated eVitara from a five-star result.
September Sales and Exports
In India, eVitara is offered in Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants, with listed prices ranging from Rs 16.19 lakh to Rs 20.21 lakh, including the battery. Two battery options are on offer of 49 kWh and 61 kWh with range up to 543 kms.
Domestic sales stood at 1,342 units in September 2026, while exports from India totalled 1,337 units. The export figure covers all overseas destinations, including Japan and Europe, rather than Japan alone. Compared with 3,088 units exported in September 2025, overseas shipments declined by 1,751 units, or 56.70%. Combined domestic sales and exports reached 2,679 units in September 2026.
Made In India, Rated Five Stars By Bharat NCAP
eVitara is manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, with India serving as its exclusive global production base. Vehicles produced here are supplied to multiple overseas markets. In India, the eVitara has received a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
JNCAP’s overall rating includes preventive safety and emergency reporting alongside collision protection, and its testing criteria differ from those used by Bharat NCAP. Market-specific equipment can also vary. The Japan result therefore should not be presented as a downgrade of the India-spec vehicle’s Bharat NCAP rating.
