  • Amateur riders compete on the Continental GT-R650
  • Professionals step up to the new, faster GT-R750 prototype
  • GT-R750 gets uprated race suspension, brakes, tyres, ergos and aero

Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup 2026 begins with a flying start at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. Stepping into its sixth edition now, it uses two different Continental race motorcycles. Amateurs race on the GT-R650 and Professionals stepping up to the new GT-R750 Race Prototype.

Twenty Amateur competitors race separately on the GT-R650, while 15 Professionals get the significantly more specialised GT-R750. It effectively creates a progression within the same Continental GT racing programme rather than treating every competitor at the same level.

GT-R650 takes its familiar cafe-racer base and strips away most of it that is unnecessary for racing purposes. Royal Enfield then supplies these race-prepared motorcycles to competitors during the GT Cup keeping the machinery relatively controlled placing greater emphasis on rider skill.

For 2026, though, Royal Enfield has decided its professional riders need something more serious.

The new Continental GT-R750 Race Prototype is an evolution of the GT-R650. We don’t know the full technical specifications for the new motorcycle, but it is a more powerful platform at its core obviously. The engine is then combined with race-tuned suspension and braking hardware.

JK Tyre has developed dedicated race-compound rubber for the GT-R750 with the aim of increasing the contact and grip available during hard cornering. Harris Performance components have also been used to sharpen the rider triangle. The GT-R750 gets CNC-machined adjustable rearsets and aluminium clip-on handlebars, allowing a much more committed position than the standard road motorcycle.

It comes fitted with a new aerodynamic race fairing designed to let riders tuck in more effectively and reduce drag. There is also a lightweight stainless-steel twin exhaust system.

Round one at Kari Motor Speedway featured three races for each category. In the Amateur class, Kabir Sahoch had a particularly strong weekend, taking the lead in Race 1 ahead of Saurav Dey and Brandon Dsouza. He won again in Race 2, followed by Dey and Vaibhav Rao, and completed a clean sweep in Race 3 ahead of Harish Yodhin and Prashaant C.

Professional GT-R750 field produced an equally clear early favourite, Senthil Kumar, leading all three races, while Anish D Shetty and Allwin Xavier repeatedly captured the remaining podium positions.

The 2026 season is scheduled across three rounds. Round one has now been completed at Kari Motor Speedway, while the second Coimbatore round follows before the championship concludes with the final round later in the season.
