BMW Motorrad has patented their Vision CE electric scooter, which was showcased to the world at EICMA in 2025. The German automaker has registered a design patent for the Vision CE in India. While a patent is not explicit evidence of a model’s impending launch, the Vision CE would be an interesting offering if it ever goes on sale in India.

BMW made waves at EICMA last year with the global unveil of their hotly-anticipated F 450 GS adventure tourer. However, also on display was the Vision CE as a visionary vehicle aimed at solving the challenges of urban mobility. This model is definitely on the more radical side of problem-solving with a bold design that aims to do away with protective riding gear entirely.

BMW Front View

For starters, the Vision CE comes with a protective cage that cocoons the rider in a padded tubular structure. With this BMW claims riders of the future will not need to wear a helmet, gloves or jackets, as the frontal and overhead structures provide forward facing and lateral protection. The claims are definitely bold!

The Vision CE also comes with self-balancing technology, which should theoretically keep the scooter standing upright even at a complete standstill, removing the need for putting one’s foot down, or deploying the side stand (even though it does come with one, thankfully).

BMW Left Rear Three Quarter

Also, the Vision CE is also only capable of carrying a single occupant – how practical that will be for the rider, your guess is as good as ours. Thankfully, the scooter does have some normalcy to it too. There are dual disc brakes at the front and rear and a belt drive system with power delivered by a mid-mounted motor.

If BMW’s CE 04 is to serve as any reference, power and torque figures north of 50bhp and 50Nm of torque should be enough to propel the voluminous Vision CE up to highway speeds.

BMW Right Side View

Its safe to say then that the Vision CE is a very striking proof-of-concept, but time will tell whether BMW actually decides to take the model to market. There are definitely elements of the design and underlying tech that make resounding sense to a potential buyer. But, with no estimated timeline or commitment from BMW the Vision CE is still a while away from hitting our streets.
