Based on the K3 platform, next-gen Creta will have larger dimensions and offer a range of premium features including Pleos Connect
New Hyundai Creta continues its road tests, with the latest sighting reported near Gurugram in the NCR region and then in Manali. Users can expect a significantly enhanced experience, as the new model has received major upgrades to its exterior, interior and equipment list. There will also be a new strong hybrid powertrain, improving the overall driving experience and fuel efficiency.
New Creta base variant spied
Latest spy shots reveal the test mule riding on steel wheels (with covers), indicating that this is one of the lower-spec variants. These wheels are paired with 205/65R16 tyres. According to the spotter, the new Creta is larger and has sharper lines compared to the current model. These changes have been noted in earlier sightings as well across India and overseas markets.
The test mule spied in Manali, is a Diesel variant, as can be heard from its engine. Based on the ‘Art of Steel’ design language, new Creta has acquired more angular lines and a boxy silhouette. Key highlights include an upright front fascia and a prominent bumper with slatted elements. New Creta is expected to get a new grille, LED projector headlamps and H-styled top mounted LED DRLs.
Side profile has features like flush door handles, circular wheel arches, a slanted roofline and angular window frames. At the rear, new Creta has a raked windshield, a roof mounted spoiler, a chunky bumper and a flat boot lid. Tail lamps will be new, likely following the same basic design format as the lighting setup seen at the front.
Major tech evolution
New Hyundai Creta will get substantial tech updates, as it transitions to a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV). It will be possible to introduce new features and improvements via OTA updates, without any component changes or hardware upgrades. Getting these updates will also not require a visit to the service centre. As an SDV, the new Creta can be continuously updated in line with industry trends and evolving consumer expectations.
Another USP of new Creta is the Pleos Connect infotainment system, which has already been spotted with previous test mules. The full version of Pleos Connect is likely to be offered with the higher trims of next-gen Creta. Pleos simplifies the screen setup by transferring most of the controls and functions to the centrally mounted infotainment system.
This eliminates the need for a full size instrument panel. In its place, the Pleos setup uses a slim display mounted on the dashboard, in the driver’s line of sight. Critical information such as speed and fuel gauge is displayed on the slim display. The Pleos is set to become a common feature across most of Hyundai SUVs.
New hybrid engine
Next-gen Creta will be getting a new strong hybrid powertrain. This is the same one as used with the new global-spec Seltos. This hybrid powertrain integrates a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated GDI petrol engine with one or two electric motors and a battery pack. With dual electric motors, eAWD capability is unlocked. For the Indian market, the strong hybrid setup for new Creta will be based on the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Hybrid variants of new Creta will have features like regen braking and vehicle to load (V2L). Existing powertrain options will be carried over. New Creta is expected to be launched in the first half of 2027. It will continue to rival other midsize SUVs such as Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Tata Sierra and Honda Elevate.
