- Updated 1200cc triple promises more performance and refinement
- India launch is likely in 2027 after the international rollout
Triumph Tiger 1200 is preparing for a sizeable update with the next version scheduled to make its global debut on 27 October 2026. Triumph has released the first preview of the motorcycle confirming changes to the engine, electronics and suspension.
Triumph says the updated 1200cc three-cylinder engine will deliver increased performance as well as better refinement. Also confirmed is advanced rider technology and what the company describes as the most sophisticated suspension package it has ever fitted to one of its motorcycles.

The current India-spec motorcycle uses an 1,160cc, liquid-cooled T-Plane triple producing 148bhp and 130Nm. It is hardly short on performance, so simply adding a few horsepower would not dramatically change the motorcycle. The promise of improved refinement could be more valuable for Indian buyers who use the Tiger primarily for long-distance touring.
Triumph has also said the new motorcycle will have a distinctive appearance. The existing Tiger 1200 has a tall, purposeful design built around its large fuel tank, compact triple-cylinder engine and exposed rear subframe. The forthcoming model appears set to evolve that formula rather than abandon it.
The suspension update could be particularly significant. The present Tiger 1200 already uses semi-active Showa suspension that automatically responds to changes in load and road conditions. Triumph has therefore set itself a fairly high bar by describing the incoming arrangement as its most advanced yet. That could mean a greater level of automatic adjustment, improved load compensation or more sophisticated electronic control, although Triumph has not confirmed any of these details yet.
There is already a considerable amount of technology available on the current Tiger 1200 family in India. Triumph’s recently introduced Tiger 1200 Alpine Edition, for example, combines semi-active Showa suspension with rear radar for Blind Spot Assist and Lane Change Assist, along with heated rider and passenger seats and heated grips. The new generation will therefore need to push beyond an already comprehensive electronics package.
Triumph has confirmed that the new Tiger 1200 will also be displayed at EICMA following its 27 October reveal. India should remain an important market for the new model. An arrival during the first half of 2027 appears realistic.
