The next-generation Triumph Tiger 1200 has been leaked ahead of its official debut. The upcoming adventure motorcycle was spotted in the hands of Dakar Rally winner Sam Sunderland, who is currently riding it as part of Triumph’s attempt to set a new world record for the fastest circumnavigation on a motorcycle.
Triumph had previously announced Sunderland’s record attempt with images of him alongside a Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer. However, when the Dakar winner began his journey from London, the motorcycle seen in his social media posts was not the current-generation model. Instead, it appears to be the upcoming 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer.

The leaked images reveal some of the changes Triumph has made to its flagship adventure tourer. The most noticeable update is a redesigned LED headlight setup with a radar sensor mounted above the headlights, suggesting that the new Tiger 1200 could get a front-facing radar system.
The existing Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer already features rear radar-based blind-spot assistance. The addition of a front radar could potentially expand the motorcycle’s electronic rider-assistance package. Apart from these changes, the upcoming Tiger 1200 appears largely similar to the current motorcycle.

The mechanical specifications are also expected to remain unchanged. The current Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer is powered by a 1,160cc, inline three-cylinder engine producing 150bhp and 130Nm. It weighs 262kg and comes with a 30-litre fuel tank. While the Rally Explorer comes standard with a 21-inch front wheel, the front wheel on Sam Sunderland’s motorcycle appears smaller in the leaked images, potentially indicating a move to a 19-inch front wheel.

Triumph is yet to reveal official details of the new Tiger 1200. However, with the motorcycle already being used publicly, more details are expected to be out soon. The new Tiger 1200 could make its global debut at EICMA 2026 in November.
