  • Not part of VinFast’s existing line-up
  • Could be the first India-specific model

VinFast has patented a new model in India which could be the brand’s first India-specific offering. The model doesn’t bear a resemblance to anything currently in VinFast’s native Vietnamese portfolio or any concept models showcased showing encouraging signs for the brand’s commitment to the Indian electric two-wheeler segment.

What we know

Earlier this year VinFast had initiated rapid-fire patents for a plethora of their existing line-up, such as the Kinet and Viper models. The company had also patented the Rasad maxi-scooter and Sulad motorcycle concept models, but this most recent patent seems to be a model VinFast has not openly disclosed anywhere prior to this.

Vinfast Right Rear Three Quarter

The basic formula on show is all too familiar. We can see a subdued design, rear hub motor, conventional telescopic forks and dual hydraulic coil springs at the rear. There also seems to be a digital dash, which could be an LCD or TFT cluster depending on how VinFast plans to position it. 14-inch wheels at both ends. VinFast’s major rivals in the space all have similar offerings following the same blueprint probably to appeal buyers looking for more a conservative option.

VinFast has been ramping up for an India debut in the two-wheeler space, having recently signed letters of intent (LOIs) with over 50 dealers across 15 states. So it comes as no surprise that the Vietnamese giant could be planning a multi-pronged approach on the market with a mixture of existing and new models. With no launch timeline at this time, more details will provide clarity on VinFast’s campaign.
