New VW ID.Tiguan Debuts

Full electric ID. Tiguan will go on sale in Europe early next year, followed by launches in other markets later in 2027

As part of its renewed electrification strategy, Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. Tiguan for European markets. The electric SUV serves as a single direct successor to the ID.4 and ID.5, which are being phased out. Pre-sales for the new ID. Tiguan will commence in several European countries on 13th October, with prices starting at EUR 42,695 (Rs 46.30 lakh). While the all-electric ID. Tiguan has arrived, the current ICE-powered Tiguan will continue to be on sale with its petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan – Design and features

Built on the MEB+ platform, Volkswagen ID. Tiguan has adopted a more traditional SUV silhouette. This is a key shift from its predecessors that had a softer crossover design. Overall styling of the ID. Tiguan is a close match to its ICE sibling and is based on the brand’s ‘Pure Positive’ design language. Volkswagen has consistently focused on creating timeless designs for its cars, something that is reflected in the electric Tiguan as well.

Tiguan has a striking presence with its sharp lines and smooth sculpted surfaces. The SUV has sleek lighting elements, a closed-off grille and a prominent bumper design. Side profile has squared wheel arches, sporty aero-optimized alloy wheels, and conventional door handles in a body-coloured finish. While the beltline runs largely parallel to the ground, the roof features a gentle arc for a premium feel.

At the rear, ID. Tiguan has a raked windshield, a sharp roof mounted spoiler, shark fin antenna and edgy tail lamps in a connected format. The Volkswagen logo and ‘ID. TIGUAN’ badging on the boot are illuminated. The VW logo at the front is also an illuminated unit. The rear bumper features a dual-tone finish and diffuser-style elements for a rugged aesthetic. ID. Tiguan has a large 534-litre boot, complemented by a 32-litre frunk.
