Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Launch

The new Himalayan is set to launch on 4th September. Ahead of its launch, new images of this more affordable Himalayan have surfaced online, revealing its design and cockpit. As a 440 cc version, the new RE adventure tourer will be based on the platform of its sibling, the Scram 440. The images show that this new motorcycle features a design quite similar to the original 411 cc Himalayan.

One of the most visible changes is what makes the Himalayan a real ‘Himalayan’. It ditches the circular instrument console available on the 450 and uses one similar to the current Scram 440. The magic here is that this console looks much like the original Himalayan. The cockpit features an analogue speedometer with a digital inset that displays the trip meter and other ride data. There’s also a tripper navigation pod mounted on the right side of the cluster. Still, it misses out on the compass available on the Himalayan 411.

Design-wise, the 440 Himalayan features a few elements from the Scram 440 and some from the Himalayan 411. It gets a tall front windscreen, wide handlebars, a simple LED taillight, bulb-type indicators, and a long exhaust. While the Scram 440 sits on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, the Himalayan gets 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels for added off-road capability.

Gets A New Heart

As the name suggests, the Himalayan 440 will get a 440 cc engine derived from the Scram 440. The brand has not revealed the power figures yet, but we expect the output to be similar to the Scram’s. The Scram 440 is known for its relaxed nature, and the main reason for launching a Himalayan based on the Scram’s platform is just that. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Expected Price

Speaking of the pricing, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to cost between Rs. 2.8 lakh and Rs. 3.2 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). RE might price it quite aggressively to position it fairly above the Himalayan 450, which costs Rs. 3.76 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
