Yamaha MT-125 is like the little brother of Yamaha MT-15, which is a popular ‘Hyper Naked Motorcycle’ from Team Blue. Both MT-125 and Mt-15 shared the same overall robo-face aesthetics with a lot of aggression and sportiness. It has to be noted that Yamaha does not sell MT-125 in India, but we do get MT-15.
Now, Yamaha has just unveiled a major facelift for MT-125 and it now follows an all-new design language for a completely unique aesthetic. This new design not only sets it apart from MT-15, but looks a lot fresher. Thus sparking the question whether Yamaha MT-15 in India gets a similar facelift to keep the family DNA.
New Yamaha MT125 Facelift Debuts
The new 2027 Yamaha MT-125 facelift has just debuted and it gets a much sharper and more aesthetically pleasing fascia than it did before. The entire front fascia along with side silhouette has been revised as there is a new headlight cluster along with slightly redesigned fuel tank shrouds that lend it a new look.
The primary update is with the headlight cluster where we can see revised overall LED lighting signature. Actual bi-LED projector which used to be below DRLs in pre-facelift model, is now shifted above DRLs. It is now positioned in what looks like a translucent headlight cowl with contrasting colours.
Entire fuel tank along with fuel tank shrouds have been updated with the facelift. We can also see repositioned LED turn indicators which now emerge from the tank shrouds. There are some translucent elements and contrasting highlights in the tank shrouds that double as radiator cover. Seats get dual-tone effect with contrasting colours and then we also have new side body panels.
TFT Instrument Cluster
As part of the equipment of Yamaha MT-125 facelift, there is a TFT instrument cluster that supports navigation and smartphone connectivity. Other features include Traction Control, slipper clutch, 41mm USD front forks, rear mono-shock unit, fancy swingarm, single disc brakes at both end with radially mounted disc at the front and all these are mounted on the Deltabox perimeter frame.
The same 125cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with SOHC 4V/cyl head is continued with MT-125 facelift. It is capable of generating 15 PS and 11.5 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Colour options include Redline White, Ice Storm, Icon Blue and Tech Black. In Europe units of updated 2027 Yamaha MT-125 are expected to reach showrooms by 1st quarter of 2027. While MT-125 might not launch in India, we hope this new design makes its way to MT-15.
