- Lower crash bars start near Rs. 30k in Europe
- Upper and lower sections use 25mm stainless-steel tubing
SHAD Terra crash bars for the BMW R 1300 GS are set to make their show debut at EICMA 2026. This is an important expansion of the Spanish accessory maker’s adventure-focused Terra range. Until now Terra has largely been associated with panniers, top boxes and soft luggage. The addition of motorcycle protection takes the range into a new category and SHAD has chosen one of the most established large adventure motorcycles as its first application.
There’s two separate protection systems for the BMW R 1300 GS. Upper Crash Bars are designed to protect the fuel tank, radiator and upper bodywork. The Lower Crash Bars concentrate on the engine, crankcase or oil sump area and exhaust headers.

This modular arrangement is useful because owners can choose the degree of protection they need. Although the upper bars require the corresponding lower crash bars to be installed first. Both assemblies are made from AISI 304 stainless steel. SHAD uses 25mm-diameter tubing with a 2mm wall thickness, with the structure designed to provide high strength without adding unnecessary width around the motorcycle. The bars mount directly to the R 1300 GS’ existing chassis mounting points, meaning installation does not require cutting or drilling the motorcycle.
You can pick between two finishes. The silver version uses a sandblasted and electropolished finish intended to improve corrosion resistance and the black version receives a heat-cured powder coating designed to resist abrasion and stone impacts.
SHAD has also integrated the new guards with its existing Terra luggage ecosystem. The upper bars can be used as mounting points for the TR08 waterproof crash-bar bags, which add eight litres of storage on each compatible mounting position and have a maximum recommended load of 2.6kg. The TR08 uses a universal strap system and carries an IPX4 water-resistance rating.
Pricing has now appeared on SHAD’s official European configurator ahead of the EICMA display. The Lower Crash Bars are listed at €283.88 and the Upper Crash Bars cost €285.88, black or silver. At current exchange rates, the lower set works out to roughly Rs 30,000 before shipping, duties and local taxes. That is only a currency conversion and should not be treated as an expected Indian retail price. SHAD has not announced an India-specific MRP.
As of now, SHAD has not announced a dedicated India launch date or an Indian price for the new R 1300 GS protection system. But since India is a growing market for the R 1300 GS, SHAD will have to bring it here soon.
