  • Ares Solid starts at Rs 6,950
  • Claw and Infinity graphic versions cost Rs 7,250
  • Gets ECE 22.06, DOT and ISI certification

SMK Ares has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 6,950 inclusive of taxes as the new dual-sport full-face helmet. The range arrives in three versions called Ares Solid, Ares Claw and Ares Infinity, with the latter two introducing graphic treatments over the same underlying shell and safety package.

The Ares Solid costs Rs 6,950, and the Claw and Infinity versions are priced at Rs 7,250 each. All three are offered in six colour options giving you 18 combinations across gloss and matte finishes to puck from. Sizes range from XS to XXL and sales have begun through SMK’s authorised dealer network. Online availability will follow later.

Ares has been designed around mixed use, combining a detachable sun peak for trail riding with a conventional main visor for road use and an integrated internal sun visor for changing light conditions. This gives you the option of using the same helmet for weekday commuting, highway touring and trail riding. The peak can be removed when not required, while the conventional full-face visor keeps the helmet practical for faster road use.

The main visor is scratch-resistant and uses a one-touch quick-release system. SMK also describes the field of vision as extra wide and optically correct which should help when standing on the pegs or looking further through corners.

The outer shell uses SMK’s Energy Impact Resistant Thermoplastic EIRT construction. Underneath sits a multi-density EPS liner. Helmet is certified to ECE 22.06, DOT and ISI standards.

Weight varies with shell size. SMK quotes 1,575g for sizes XS to M and 1,625g for L to XXL. That does not make the Ares an especially light adventure helmet, but the figure is obvious considering the integrated sun visor, removable peak and dual-shell construction.
